ELLISDON TO TAKE HOME INAUGURAL CORPORATE ICON AWARD

London ON – New this year in celebration of the London Chamber’s 150th anniversary, the London Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is introducing the Corporate Icon Award as part of the Business Achievement Awards program. The Corporate Icon Award is best characterized as a ‘lifetime achievement award’ for corporations. This will bring the number of award categories to six.
“On behalf of the Chamber’s Board of Directors and principal event sponsor RBC Financial Group, I am pleased that EllisDon is the recipient of this prestigious award,” says Pam Waeland, Chamber president. “EllisDon’s first construction project in 1951 was on a small addition to a house in London. They have grown to become a name to be recognized across Canada, the United States, in Europe and the Far East, and continue to invest and reinvest in this community.”

EllisDon, the construction company behind such establishments as the John Labatt Centre and the London Convention Centre, is thrilled to be the first one to take home the award.

“Though we have operations across Canada and in the US, Europe, the Middle East and the Caribbean, London is, and always will be, our home,” says Geoff Smith, President & CEO of EllisDon. “The future holds exciting opportunities, but this award has made us pause and appreciate the terrific people who built the company and made this future possible."

The Corporate Icon Award will be given annually to a corporation that has demonstrated particular excellence or achievement in a certain aspect of business, making either an immediate impact on, or a substantial long-term contribution to, the economic progress of our community. The recipient of this award will be nominated and determined by ballot by Chamber Board of Director members and announced in advance of the awards ceremony.

About EllisDon: A global company delivering construction expertise, construction services and specialized support services to clients throughout the world, EllisDon has just under 2,000 full and part time employees. This year, EllisDon will pay out close to $10 million in profit sharing to employees.
