Featured Company Award goes to Centennial Windows Ltd.

London ON – (November 30, 2004) Centennial Windows Ltd. was announced today as the next recipient of the Featured Company award presented by the London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) and the City of London.

Company president, Terry Lee will receive a commemorative plaque from Mayor Anne Marie DeCicco at the city council meeting on December 6.

“It is especially important for us to know that others in our own community notice and recognize the accomplishments of our people,” says Lee. “London has been home to us since we started in business and when we started to make plans to build our new plant, the City and the LEDC in particular were there to encourage and help us through the planning process. We appreciate their support and we are proud to receive this award – it will have a place of honour in our new building.”

In business since July 1981, Centennial Windows began as a home based contracting business and has grown into a multi-branch manufacturer and installer of residential replacement windows employing more than eighty people. London is home to Centennial's head office and manufacturing plant. In December, the company will move to a new custom designed plant on Sovereign Road in the Trafalgar Industrial Park.

In the mid nineties, Centennial was the first window manufacturer in Canada to obtain the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) certification on its products and then in 2003, was the first company to qualify its products to carry the Canadian ENERGY STAR® label for energy efficiency. In May 2004, Natural Resources Canada named Centennial as Canada’s ENERGY STAR® Manufacturer of the Year, considered to be the highest manufacturing award in the energy efficiency sector in Canada.

The company has also developed unique partnering programs with government and utilities to promote energy efficient product and is an active supporter of City of London’s initiative, the London Energuide Partnership (LEG).

Centennial Windows has been nominated for two awards in this year’s London Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Business Achievement Awards - the Outstanding Large Business of the Year and the Environmental Innovator of the Year.

Together with the City of London, the LEDC announces a featured company each month.

"One of the key components of the LEDC mandate is to assist local companies to expand and attract new business", says John Kime, LEDC President and CEO. "By shining a spotlight on local companies, Londoners will learn more about some of the very fine businesses established in our community."
