Innovative European IT company launches North American operation in London

September 6, 2006 (London, ON) A unique I.T company, Aerosoft GmbH has launched its first North American operation in London, under the name of Aerosoft North America Ltd.

Headquartered in Bueren, Germany, Aerosoft is a leading developer of software in the areas of flight simulation and train simulation. The company also sells products from renowned worldwide manufacturer Microsoft Corporation.

In the area of flight simulation, Aerosoft develops a variety of high end products for Microsoft Flight Simulator and other professional simulators, as well as a large selection of add-ons and associated hardware products. The company also develops solutions for train simulators with add-ons such as routes and train activities. The flight simulation products are used extensively in training pilots. Currently, Aerosoft is developing a high end train dispatching simulation tool used for training railroad staff, evaluating railroad timetables and track work planning.

The company also develops recreational products for the interactive digital gaming industry. A recently developed product provides gamers with a flight simulation experience over London and the surrounding region including take off and landing from the London International Airport. There is currently no other product like this on the gaming market.

According to company President Richard Plokhaar, the company chose London for its North American facilities because of its growing IT sector, access to skilled and talented labour through The University of Western Ontario and Fanshawe College and easy access to major markets.

“London is an ideal location for our first North American operation. This will initially be a small enterprise but we see good potential for a significant growth in this community,” says Plokhaar.

The London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) worked with its existing contacts in London and Germany to attract Aerosoft to London. The LEDC provided site location assistance, information and support and continues to assist the company with networking opportunities and the development of co-op partnerships with The University of Western Ontario.

According to LEDC President and CEO John Kime, Aerosoft is a welcome addition to London’s steadily growing IT sector.

“Aerosoft is an innovative company with a unique and highly specialized offering of products,” says Kime, “We have the right business atmosphere that makes London an attractive location of choice for I.T companies. I anticipate that we will start to see more of these types of companies seriously looking at London.”
