London Chosen for Flagship Senior Retirement Living Community

February 22, 2007 (London, ON) Calgary-based The Statesman Group has chosen London for its flagship senior retirement living community - The Manor Village Life Center. With an investment value of $20 million, the company will build a new 120,000 sq ft facility that will generate over 1,000 construction jobs and 20 to 30 full time and part time operational jobs once the centre opens.

The new Manor Village Life Center will replace the McCormick House on the corner of Richmond and Victoria in London’s Old North neighbourhood.

According to Garth Mann, President of The Statesman Group, London was chosen because “it is one of the most up and coming cities in Canada with outstanding growth potential because
of its proximity to major transportation corridors. It is a fast growing community with a vibrant economy and easy to get to from Calgary.”

Mann also cited The University of Western Ontario and the assistance provided by Heather Pilot of the London Economic Development Corporation and the excellent staff at the City of London as determining factors.

“We found the LEDC and the City to be extremely helpful through all our planning, “said Mann, “And Western is one of the finest schools in the country especially in the areas of business and health services. A university like that is a great attraction asset for any city.”

The Manor Village Life Centre in London will feature an elegant complex for independent living as well as for seniors who require assisted living services.

The first Manor Village Life Center community opened in Calgary, Alberta in 1997. The Statesman Group has expanded the elegant Senior Retirement Complexes throughout Calgary, Alberta and Scottsdale, Arizona; with openings scheduled for Gilbert, Chandler, and Phoenix, Arizona and communities in North Carolina and Washington.
