Three More New Doctors for London

More welcome news for thousands of Londoners without primary health care. Mayor Anne Marie DeCicco-Best is pleased to announce two more new family doctors - bringing London’s total number of recent physician arrivals to 12, plus a primary care physician specializing in pediatrics. These additional doctors are launching their respective practices across the city as a result of ongoing recruitment efforts by the City of London’s Family Doctor Recruitment Specialist and the Mayor’s Health Care London Task Force.

Dr. Huma Alam, a recent graduate of the University of Western Ontario’s residency program, has chosen to stay in London and joins the Family Medical Clinic of St. Joseph’s Health Care on Platt’s Lane. Dr. Alam has recently launched her practice and is now taking patients.

Dr. Bland Iqbal was born in Pakistan and studied medicine there before immigrating to Canada. More recently, Dr. Iqbal obtained his License to practice from the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons and has been working in Winnipeg, Manitoba for four years. Dr. Iqbal is relocating to London shortly and will be launching his practice at the Bradley Medical Centre on November 1st.

And, Dr. Said Ramadan has relocated from Windsor, Ontario to join the Family Medical Centre on Wonderland Road. Dr. Ramadan originally completed his residency in pediatrics at Cairo University Children’s Hospital and later studied and worked in Scotland and Saudi Arabia before immigrating to Canada in 1999. He has also recently launched his new London pediatrics practice and is already taking patients.

“We are delighted to welcome these new doctors to London,\" says Mayor DeCicco-Best. \"With their new practices, coupled with the previous announcements over the past year, we have now surpassed our original goal to recruit 10 net new family doctors, and our successful efforts will continue.”

To date, Drs. Franklin Warsh, Shailendra Ziradkar, Robert Axford-Gatley and Jeffrey Kelland all joined the Bradley Medical Centre, while Drs. Mohamed Izzeldin, Monzur Naher, Jay Geddes and Omer Chaudhary signed on with the AIM Health Group. In addition, Dr. Blake Bowler joined the Wonderland Road Family Medical Centre and Dr. Alastair Zachary Bayfield joined the Highbury Medical Clinic.
