2024 Canadian Cross Country Championships

Tourism London, in partnership with the London Western Track & Field Club and the City of London, are excited to host the 2024 & 2025 Canadian Cross Country Championships at Fanshawe Golf Course in London, Ontario. The Championships will take place over a 2-day schedule. The Championships will include U16, U18, U20, and Senior national championship races, along with Canadian Masters Association national championships, a Community race and a 1K Kids race.

Course Map

Distance Breakdown:

  • Open 10K — 4 x 2.5 km
  • U20 8K — 4 x 2 km
  • U18 6K — 3 x 2 km
  • U16 4K — 2 x 2km
  • XC Classic 5k — 2 x 2.5 km
  • Mixed Relay — 4 x 2 (every athlete runs ~ 2 km)

Community Races

4 x 2km U18 Mixed Relay:

  • Age Group
    • U18 (May be comprised of U16 and U18 Athletes.)
  • Composition
    • 2 Males and 2 Female
    • Running order: Male, Female, Male, Female
  • Distance
    • 4 x 2km
  • Registration
    • Register online using the same portal as for individual athlete registrations. First, enter the lead runner’s name and select the 4x2km relay event. You’ll then be prompted to add the other three team members.
    • There are no limits on the number of teams each club or province can enter. Teams may include U16 and U18 athletes
  • Award Categories
    • Relay Teams may represent a Club or Province/Territory
    • Awards will be presented to the top 3 of each.
      • Top 3 Province/Territory Teams
      • Top 3 Club Teams
    • Athletics Canada is running the 4x2km Mixed Gender Relay as “Test Event”. Winning teams will not receive Championship Medals. Alternative medals will be awarded.

Eligibility

The following athletes are eligible to compete at the 2024 Canadian Cross Country Championships:

Athlete citizenship eligibility

  1. All athletes must be a member of Athletics Canada in order to be eligible to compete.
  2. Only Canadian Citizens or those with a valid Canadian Permanent Resident Card are eligible to be declared Canadian Champions and receive a medal, award, or financial recognition. For the avoidance of doubt, this includes members of teams (e.g., relays or cross country). Specifically: in cross country, scoring members of club and branch teams must be Canadian Citizens or hold a valid Canadian Permanent Residence Card; and in relay events, team members must all be Canadian Citizens or holders of a valid Canadian Permanent Residence Card.”

Masters
The Canadian Masters Championships are open to all male and female masters (age 30+ on race day).

Male and female competitors will run in the same race. All Master athletes, if a resident in Canada, must be members of Canadian Masters Athletics (CMA) by taking out a full Masters membership of any Athletics Canada provincial affiliate. If a resident outside of Canada, Master athletes must be members of USATF or another World Masters Athletics (WMA) national affiliate. The course will be open for a self-guided course walkthrough from noon till 5:oo p.m.

Competition Bib Pick-up

Bib pick-up can be collected at the Accreditation desk located in the Main building at Fanshawe Golf Course. Below is the Accreditation pick-up schedule:

  • Friday, November 29
    • 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 30
    • 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, December 1
    • 8:00 a.m. – 1:45 p.m.
