The Government of Ontario is hosting a webinar highlighting India's vibrant media and entertainment industries, including major stakeholders, government initiatives and future growth plans.
The online event will interest Ontario game and app developers, e-sports companies, digital media firms, and specialized technology companies involved in software and hardware, including AR/VR, animation, and VFX.
Anticipated to be worth more than C$133 billion by 2030, the media and entertainment industry is bolstered by the public's huge appetite for film and video products, an international reputation for world-class movies, and government ambitions to turn India into a content creation hub. India’s online gaming sector will reach C$3.8 billion, and the animation and VFX segments are anticipated to hit C$4 billion, by 2025. More than 1,600 films were released in 2022. In 2021, the Indian government announced it would create a National Centre of Excellence for AVGC, or animation, visual effects, gaming and comics. Robust activity in India’s digital media sector will provide leading Ontario-based technology companies exciting opportunities for global sales and partnerships.
The session will cover:
- the experience of foreign digital media companies doing business in India,
- opportunities for Ontario companies to sell digital media technologies to Indian companies
- Collaboration opportunities with Indian stakeholders involved in the media and entertainment industries
- advice from industry experts and Ontario government staff on market-entry and growth strategies
- preliminary details of an Ontario government digital media export business mission to India Joy in 2024, the largest gaming, animation, VFX, e-sports and entertainment event in India.
