With guest artist Clark Bryan
Even the most brilliant musical innovators took their inspiration from what had come before.
Ludwig van Beethoven and Francis Poulenc were both strongly influenced by music of their past. Beethoven’s work emerged as an homage to and continuation of the Classical tradition in which he was raised; Poulenc’s came across, more often than not, as parody.
The Winds of London Symphonia join pianist Clark Bryan in the Quintet for Piano and Winds of Beethoven, the Sextet for Piano and Winds of Poulenc and the piece that started it all, W. A. Mozart’s Quintet for Piano and Winds in E flat.
