Join us to kick off the 2021 WCT National Mentorship Program with a virtual conversation on mentorship and race.
The generic benefits of mentorship are well-known. Being mentored and mentoring boost career advancement and compensation and strengthen professional networks. In male-dominated industries, mentorship can be an important strategy for overcoming the isolation of being a minority in the workplace.
For women who are marginalized not only by their gender but by race, ethnicity or other biases, getting a mentor and being a mentor takes on a greater urgency. To kick off the 2021 season of its National Mentorship Program, WCT will host a conversation about mentorship and race among four active participants in the program. They will share their professional experiences and the role that mentoring has played in their career development. We will also explore new ways that the National Mentorship Program can be improved to better meet the needs of our whole community including racialized women. You, too, can be part of this important conversation.
