Ben Reesor, General Manager: BLES Biochemicals Inc. - manufactures pulmonary surfactant, a life-saving drug for premature infants suffering from neonatal respiratory distress syndrome.
Ben Reesor started at BLES Biochemicals in 2012 as a quality control lab technician. From there, he moved through various roles at the company in quality, R&D, and production management. In 2019, he accepted the role of General Manager.

Panelists:
Dr. Michael Rieder obtained his MD at the University of Saskatchewan in 1980 and Ph.D. at the University of Toronto in 1992. His paediatric residency training was at Children's Hospital of Michigan followed by fellowships in Paediatric Emergency Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. He is a Distinguished University Professor in the Departments of Paediatrics, Physiology and Pharmacology and Medicine at Western University and a Scientist at the Robarts Research Institute. He is a member of the Drug Therapy Committee of the CPS and has served as a consultant to Health Canada, the NIH, the MRC and the Canadian College of Academies. Dr. Rieder's research focuses on drug and food safety and optimal therapeutics in children. His work is supported by Genome Canada, CIHR and NSERC. Dr. Rieder has published 4 books, 35 book chapters and over 300 peer-reviewed manuscripts and has trained more than 50 fellows and graduate students. He received numerous awards and is the Senior International Editor of the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology and an Associate Editor of Paediatrics and Child Health. He is the Past President of the Canadian Society of Pharmacology and Therapeutics.
Dr. Colin Macaulay is an innovation educator, life-science startup advisor, and former biotech executive, with more than 15 years in a venture-backed biotech company. As a business development manager at WORLDiscoveries, Colin helps the local research community with IP protection and commercialization, including due diligence, market analysis, and the marketing and licensing of technologies. As an educator and advisor to the local startup community and the BioNext MedTech incubator, Colin guides new life-science entrepreneurs in the translation of their ideas into business models, coaching them through product-market fit, competitive analysis, technology transfer, and IP and business strategies. Dr. Caitlin Symonette is a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at London Health Sciences Centre and Assistant Professor at the University of Western Ontario. She completed her fellowship in Hand and Microsurgery at the University of British Columbia in 2019. She is the founder of DigitsRehab, a remote hand assessment and rehabilitation platform. DigitsRehab was a 2022 finalist in the innovation category of London Chamber of Commerce Business Achievement Awards. In 2021, Dr. Symonette was recognized as one of London's top 20 under 40 for her business achievement, professional experience and community involvement. She has 4 children and enjoys spending time with her family outside of work.
