January Speaker - David Carrothers
Anything is Possible – Dream Big!
David’s first children’s book, “The Bird That Wanted to Fly” came out in 1996. He started doing school presentations in London and surrounding areas. From writer’s workshops, to magic, to basketball tricks, David inspired kids/youths of all ages to believe in themselves and go for their dreams, no matter how impossible it might seem.
28 years later, David Carruthers is still presenting at schools and showing all ages that they can do anything in this world if they work hard and persevere through life’s challenges. David now has 18 children’s books and is working on many more stories to empower children (adults too) to reach for the stars.
David is also an Executive Producer on a movie Daniel Turres wrote and directed called, Fresh Meat, a horror, thriller, action, comedy film that was shot at the jail in beautiful Chatham, Ontario. A few days after it was shot, David was asked to be one of the writers for a new comedy sitcom to be filmed in London, Ontario later in 2024. It’s called “Raising the Bar” and David will also be acting and helping to produce the show.
David and his musician friend Justin Maki collaborated on writing the song Tear Drops from a Phoenix for Steve Bottrill, Chatham who had a near fatal car crash. The song won second place in the Aeolian Hall national song writing contest in February 2024 and tells the story of Steve’s survival and focus on embracing life.
