London, Canada – January, 15th 2007 - Premium games developer Big Blue Bubble Inc. (www.bigbluebubble.com) has just been announced as one of the top 10 companies in Canada to move onto the next round of Telefilm Canada’s, "Great Canadian Video Game Competition".
Big Blue Bubble was competing against 68 other game developers from across Canada for a chance to win financing, an industry mentorship, and business development assistance towards an original game concept. Their concept will be judged by such industry giants as Electronic Arts, UbiSoft, and Radical Entertainment (Vivendi Universal Games Canada). The competition, created with the input and support of industry, is looking to help and guide smaller independent game companies to improve on the development cycle of original content as well as help mature Canadian companies into stronger and more competitive players within the game media industry.
Big Blue Bubble's contest entry is being designed for the recently released Nintendo Wii console system. They feel that this is the best direction to take being it s a system that seems to have a wide appeal to male and female games of all age groups, and with Big Blue Bubble’s past experience in creating casual games for mobile and handheld game systems, they feel that this is the best direction for them to take to build upon their skills and past experiences.
Big Blue Bubble is now one step closer to the grand prize and will pitch their latest creative design against the other nine competitors who are located coast-to-coast, from as far as Nova Scotia all the way to Vancouver. Big Blue Bubble's next step for the competition is to further build upon and develop their concept and present it to the panel for judging for the next round of the competition where only 4 will be selected. From those 4 finalists one will walk away with the grand prize and Big Blue Bubble is pretty confident of their chances of making it further in "The Great Canadian Video Game Competition".
