BioNext - Powering MedTech Innovation In London

Western University’s BioNext is a crucial asset in growing London’s MedTech sector.

Co-located with Robarts Research Institute on campus, BioNext is a MedTech incubator created to accelerate the translation of early medical ideas to commercial innovations. The BioNext team facilitates the development of innovative technologies and the entrepreneurs commercializing them.

“We have more than 50 client companies including several highly regarded early-stage companies like Vessl Prosthetics, Tenomix, Deepbreathe.ai, Step Sciences, Episign, TopSpin, GFR90 and many more” says BioNext Manager, Justin Leushner.

BioNext clients have access to dedicated infrastructure, as well as a network of core facilities which represent an array of prototype manufacturing, analytical, testing, validation, and preclinical and clinical development services. Clients will develop their technologies by collaborating with local scientists and clinicians.

BioNext also provides a network of investors, nondilutive R&D grant opportunities, preclinical and clinical trial planning. Clients will develop their business models by connecting with mentors, advisors, and the local, regional, and global innovation ecosystems.

Leushner indicates that “all services are at no cost to clients because BioNext is funded through government grants.” BioNext will help their clients develop their technology, identify commercialization pathways, create a real-world business model, and prepare for investor scrutiny.

BioNext works with many ecosystem partners and hosts events to bring focus to the life sciences ecosystem on commercialization activities.

For London, BioNext creates the necessary space to compete regionally and globally, to provide the network and tools for innovators to access advisors, mentors, service providers, investors, and resources to start selling medical innovations.
