London’s very own Black Fly Beverage Company has been recognized by the LCBO at the 17th annual “Elsie” awards hosted in Toronto. The Elsie Awards recognize the contributions of their trade partners in areas such as: Social responsibility, Forecasting accuracy, Special events and Product excellence.
Black Fly was honored with two of the twenty-nine awards distributed at this year’s event including Supplier of the year in the small sized company category and the Environmental Commitment award presented by Bob Peter, LCBO President. Black Fly was applauded on their use of locally sourced PET bottles, their carriers which are made with less corrugate and no glue, and their switch to using Green Shrink biodegradable wrap.
The Black Fly team was surprised by their recognition at the ceremony, adding that they attended the event out of curiosity and were unaware they were even nominated for an award!
The company’s Tequila Margarita, a product launched this past spring, has played a key role in their success. Black Fly has seen their highest volume of sales in 2011, with a 56% sales increase in Ontario. Even in Black Fly’s off season, Tequila Margarita’s distribution locations are currently rising with 440 stores to date.
Black Fly believes their recognition at the Elsie’s and their recent success with Tequila Margarita will bring their company to a new level and instil confidence in the LCBO when giving shelf space to Black Fly in their highly competitive market.
