Brewing Up Success

This month, local brewers and beverage makers are bringing the community together over their unique creations. While the Forest City’s festival season starts to slow down, the celebration of great local drinks and food continues.

What started as a home-brew project has seen their success reach a boil. Since 2015, Booch Organic Kombucha has been brewing their authentic, small batch, craft kombucha locally in the Forest City for communities across Ontario to enjoy.

This year marks their 3rd annual Boochapalooza and Friends Community Celebration. To celebrate, hundreds gathered at Purdy Natural, where over over 20 vendors, live music, and yoga and meditation classes at Shangrila Yoga occurred. Food vendors such as Glass Roots, Plant Matter Kitchen, Boombox Bakeshop and Boho Bakeshop, as well as Booch cocktails, and craft beer from three local breweries were also available.

One Year Later

After six month of operation, Anderson Craft Ales became an Old East Village fixture. Now one year later, they’ve made their mark beyond London, taking silver at a national conference, and now being sold in more than 40 liquor stores across Southwestern Ontario.

You can join Anderson Craft Ales in celebrating one year of operation in the Forest City on Saturday, August 19th, 2017 from 11:00am until 10:00pm at their brewery, located at 1030 Elias Street. To celebrate, they are turning the parking lot into party zone, with 20+ taps of new stuff and twists on old favourites, as well as guest taps from our friends in the city. Live music and entertainment throughout the day and further details will be announced soon.

Another Day of the Fest

Now in it’s 6th year, Forest City Beer Fest is back on August 11th and 12th, adding an additional day to London’s annual celebration of craft beer. In partnership with Downtown London and Fanshawe College, the fest is throwing a launch party on the Friday night. The site includes Market Alley, the Fanshawe College Theatre, and portions of Dundas Street. The day begins at 12:00pm, when the site will open for lunch service and 15+ beers and ciders will be on tap. After that, the street party will get busier as DJs and live music begins at 4:00 pm. The festival day on the 12th will include over 20+ beer vendors, food trucks, music, and much more. Both the launch party and festival are free admission.

About London’s food and beverage industry

A thirst for variety puts London’s beverage industry on tap. From locally brewed beer and raw juices to organic kombucha, the city is a virtual drinking well of options. Scroll to ‘Mixed Drinks’ on our virtual magazine website to see how.

In recent years, the industry has witnessed an unprecedented wave of interest and demand for craft beer, organic ingredients, and locally sourced ingredients. In London, this has fuelled the startup and growth of companies like The London Brewing Co-Operative, Forked River Brewing Company, Black Fly Beverage Company, Pulp and Press Juice, Fire Roasted Coffee Company, Patrick’s Beans, and many more. Despite the differences in their products, they all point to one commonality - a commitment to London as a prime location to build and nurture a successful business.

Despite the sprawling urban landscape, London is surrounded by lush farmlands feeding the city with local dairy, beef, fruits, and vegetables. Farm fresh markets and restaurants throughout the city flourish from this abundant supply of local, high-quality produce. A growing number of award-winning and world-class restaurants offering everything from homegrown favourites to international cuisine are scattered throughout the city of London.
