The London International Airport provides Londoners the option of flying comfortably from home.
“The aviation sector has been a significant driver of London’s economy,” said Kapil Lakhotia, President & CEO of London Economic Development Corporation. “We are really excited to work with the airport on a number of economic development projects to move our economy forward.”
On Sept.10, London International Airport hosted a special event to promote passenger aviation generating from London and to encourage more passengers to choose the London airport. Representatives from industry suppliers including tour operators and travel agents were invited to a trade-show like event, where they networked with industry professionals to find out about the latest news from the airlines servicing the airport.
“We’re trying to be the best airport in term customer service, product and in our approach to what we do,” said Mike Seabrook, President and CEO of London International Airport.
The airport has been receiving a positive response to recent efforts to facilitate more comprehensive air services for travelers as well as for business in the city. In fact, Seabrook said August 2014 was the second busiest month ever at the London International Airport and positive world-wide trends are likely to benefit the London International airport.
“We have a better approach to what we’re doing and it’s rewarding to see it’s paying off,” Seabrook said.
In addition to flights vacation destinations, London International Airport also offers direct flights to commercial centres like Toronto and Chicago. Starting in October, travelers will also have the option to fly direct to Newark, NJ making New York more accessible.
“When we’re pitching London to investors from overseas, it’s important to mention that from London you can get access to all major markets, providing global connectivity,” Lakhotia said.
London International Airport is a hub for general aviation services in Southwestern Ontario and provides access to a cargo terminal with 24-hour Canada Customs and air cargo services.
“The freight business in our market is really driven by the economy. So as London continues to rebuild and pick up, we’re seeing some increase in that area,” Seabrook said.
