Six medical pioneers named Canada's 2010 Hall of Fame inductees
The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame is pleased to announce the 2010 inductees. These remarkable individuals will join the ranks of the 76 Hall of Fame laureates who have previously been inducted for pushing the boundaries of knowledge to improve human health.
The six inductees are:

"I am most appreciative and honoured to be selected for induction into The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame," said incoming laureate Dr. William Cochrane. "The recognition must be shared with my many associates across Canada, and in Calgary and Alberta, who have joined me in various health care and medical research activities over the years. I would be remiss if I did not also recognize the major contribution of my wife and family. To all, I am sincerely grateful."
The 2010 inductees were selected by an independent committee of prominent leaders from Canada's medical community.
"Choosing the recipients from amongst a group of highly-accomplished scientists, care providers and builders of medicine is always a difficult process," said Dr. Alain Beaudet,president of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and chair of the Selection Committee.
"All are worthy of our recognition and gratitude, but this year's inductees exemplify the highest degree of distinction through their contributions to Canada's enduring culture of health care excellence." Over 500 of our country's leading citizens will gather for the Induction Ceremony to be held for the first time in Calgary on April 13, 2010. The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame is joined by major sponsors, CN, Scotiabank, BMO Bank of Montreal and the Canadian Medical Association, in bringing this unique and prestigious event to Canadians.
The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame is dedicated to creating an enduring tribute to Canada's medical pioneers who, through discovery and innovation, have contributed to better health in Canada and the world.
