City of London hosts annual London Newcomer Day

The City of London, together with community partners, is inviting Londoners to join the 4th annual London Newcomer Day, this Saturday, October 14, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the RBC Place.

This family-friendly event is free to attend and will feature a number of activities including local entertainment, art and children’s activities. This year’s event will also feature networking opportunities, an Employer Exhibition featuring over 70 of London’s top employers, service organization booths and settlement and post-secondary organizations. This event is an excellent opportunity for all Londoners, including newcomers and international students, to come and meet potential employers.

Each year, the City of London welcomes thousands of newcomers. The City understands the importance newcomers and international talent play in sustaining our economy and creating a vibrant community.

“Newcomers are a vital part of London’s social, economic and cultural growth,” says Mayor Josh Morgan. “It is our diversity that will continue to drive our future forward as a City. I am excited for an event that will help bring together local partners, employers, organizations and communities to not only celebrate new Londoners but help them on their journey of calling London home.”

“The London Newcomer Day is an event for all Londoners, whether you’ve lived here for five months, five years or your entire life,” says Jill Tansley, Manager of Strategic Programs and Partnerships who leads the City’s efforts to support and attract newcomers and immigrants. “We’re excited to be able to talk to Londoners about living, working, and playing in London. It’s going to be a great day of networking and education.”

There is onsite and nearby parking for this event, including bike parking on each level of the RBC Place parking lot. Attendees are encouraged to visit https://www.londontransit.ca/ for bus routes.

The London Newcomer Day could not be possible without the help and support of the event sponsors:
