Conducting Business: Local member organizations strike a chord for Orchestra London

LONDON, ONTARIO March 9th, 2009 – The London Chamber of Commerce, TechAlliance, London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC), Tourism London and the Canadian Club believe that a healthy orchestra is vital to London's community and economy. On April 14th they will be co-hosting a one-of-a-kind networking breakfast with Orchestra London. Members from the London Chamber, TechAlliance, the Canadian Club, LEDC, Tourism London and their guests are invited to connect over a hot breakfast and private concert with Orchestra London. “The Chamber and other member-based organizations believe that London’s economy and community is better with a strong creative and artistic community,” states Gerry Macartney, CEO of The London Chamber of Commerce. He adds that “together TechAlliance, LEDC, Tourism London, the Canadian Club and the Chamber are able to provide a unique networking function that connects our members to one another and the orchestra. Members of the respective organizations and business professionals will enjoy a hot and cold breakfast, fellowship, and an original concert. Conductor Jeff Christmas has prepared original arrangements for this show including performances by soloist Chris Newland (Eleanor Rigby), Mary Beth Brown doing Zigeunerweisen Gypsy Airs, Michael James Pusnak, a Western Opera School student, performing a piece from the Magic Flute, with a rousing finish with Beethoven's 5th. A number of door prizes will be drawn and you will hear from Dave Cunningham and Peter Brennan on the Orchestra's plans for future success. “Orchestra London served has the regional centres of South Western Ontario for more than fifty years. We are proud of that tradition and hope you are too,” states Marilyn Sinclair, CEO of TechAlliance. Tickets to the event are $25.00 each or $250.00 for a table of ten with all proceeds going to the Orchestra.
