Fanshawe exceeds provincial average in performance indicators survey

(London, Ontario) – Fanshawe College has once again exceeded the provincial average in the annual Key Performance Indicators (KPI) survey with graduates continuing to find jobs and satisfaction with their education and training. Fanshawe’s graduate employment rate was 86.4 per cent, 3 per cent above the provincial average of 83.4 per cent.
“We are very pleased with this year’s results,” says Fanshawe president Peter Devlin. “Once again, it shows that Fanshawe helps graduates achieve their learning objectives and get jobs; and employers place a high value on their skills.”
According to provincial KPI survey results, the College’s graduation rate increased from last year to 70.7 per cent and is more than five per cent above the provincial average graduation rate of 65.4 per cent. The College graduation rates for its two and three-year diplomas, and 4-year degrees had some of the highest in the province.
“The KPI survey is an important barometer for how we are doing,” says Devlin. “It helps us understand where we are doing well as well as areas that may need some further investigation.”
Annually since 1998, provincial KPI data has been gathered for Ontario colleges and for the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, using the following key performance indicators: graduate outcomes (employment); graduate satisfaction; employer satisfaction; student satisfaction; and graduation rate. The most recent data was collected from March 2013 to February 2014.

Key findings included:

  • 90.8 per cent of employers were satisfied with the quality of educational preparation of Fanshawe College graduates.
  • Six months after graduation, 81.4 per cent of Fanshawe graduates report they were satisfied with the usefulness of their post-secondary education in achieving their post-graduate goals – slightly above the provincial average of 80.1 per cent.
  • 77.7 per cent of Fanshawe students surveyed in their second semester and beyond report they were satisfied or very satisfied with the overall quality of services, programming and resources available to them; this is above the provincial average of 76.3 per cent. The results are based on the following:
  •   86.7 per cent of students were satisfied with the knowledge and skills developed for their future career.
  •   80.5 per cent of students were satisfied with their learning experiences and program quality.
  •   74.7 per cent of students were satisfied with the quality of the facilities and resources.
