Farm Boy today announced plans to open two new fresh market stores in London, to be located at 109 Fanshawe Park Road East ("Masonville") and 1415 Beaverbrook Avenue ("Beaverbrook"). The new stores will create 260 new jobs for the region when they open in the spring of 2015.
The announcement took place earlier today during a Local Vendor Fair held at the company's Wellington Street location (London). There, Farm Boy buyers met with local growers and producers in an effort to expand the store's already impressive selection of over 40 unique and tasty locally made products.
The addition of two new stores in the community will bring even more Londoners quick, convenient access to the same fresh, local shopping experience that has earned Farm Boy legions of loyal customers across Ontario: abundant varieties of fresh produce, natural and organic foods, and unique specialty items, including artisanal farmstead cheese, butcher-quality fresh meats, sustainable fresh seafood and its popular and extensive line of private label products.
And with today's emphasis on healthy eating on the run, Farm Boy customers will also enjoy an unparalleled selection of wholesome, fresh, preservative-free and made-from-scratch meals from Farm Boy™ Kitchen including irresistible self-serve food bars featuring fresh greens, grains, grilled proteins and an array of hot and tasty dishes. Customers can pick their favourites to take home or enjoy in store.
"Our London customers have embraced Farm Boy, and the fresh, unique shopping experience we offer," said Jeff York, Farm Boy President and CEO. "We are pleased to be furthering our reach in the community with two more stores, delivering the same fresh, wholesome foods - with the convenience and quality our customers count on."
The 23,680 square-foot Masonville store and the 28,000 square-foot Beaverbrook location will mark Farm Boy's 16th and 17th fresh market stores in Ontario.
Partnering with Londoners to promote healthier, better lives
Further deepening its community roots, Farm Boy today announced a donation of $25,000 over five years to London Health Sciences Foundation and Children's Health Foundation. The funds will be used to advance nutrition education at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) and Children's Hospital at LHSC.
"We are grateful to Farm Boy for contributing to patient-centred care at London Health Sciences Centre and Children's Hospital at LHSC through this wonderful donation that will be used to support nutrition education initiatives at our hospitals" says Chris Boucher, V.P. Development, London Health Sciences Foundation.
"For us, it's all about the food, and how it contributes to the health and wellbeing of our customers and our communities," said York. "Together, with partners like LHSC who share these values, we can help educate and promote the benefits of healthy eating and a wholesome lifestyle."
