Gaming Union makes the news from London, Ontario

LONDON, Ontario - Gaming Union, a new online video game news and reviews publication, based in London, Ontario is quickly making a name for itself around the world. Found online at www.GamingUnion.net, the Gaming Union Network has amassed over 2 Million page views since opening in April 2009 as a result of their collaborations, editorial, relationships developed within the video game industry and local support.

Managing Editor, Kyle Wynen, and Editor-in-Chief, Darryl Kearvell, began building the foundations of Gaming Union (GU) in the Fall of 2008 while Kyle was enrolled at Fanshawe College, and Darryl worked full-time as a Search Engine Optimization professional. As Kyle studied Journalism Broadcast and worked as the Video Games Columnist for the Fanshawe College newspaper (the Interrobang), Darryl worked alongside Gaming Union Art Director, Colin Tan, developing the look, feel, and functionality of the website. Combining their respective talents, Gaming Union registered as business in April 2009, and officially launched GamingUnion.net.

Kyle Wynen said "We were very fortunate as a new company to have been granted media passes to the most important annual event in the gaming world, the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, better known as E3 earlier this year. It allowed us to forge relationships with some of the world's largest publishers (such as Activision, EA, Ubisoft and Sony), and our contacts and our reputation within the industry quickly grew." Kyle has also been very appreciative of the support he has received within the community. Larry MacKinnon, the Director of Technology at the London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) put Kyle in touch with the SVP of London-based Farms.com, Joe Dales, for advisement in online marketing and business development. Speaking about the benefits of this support, Kyle said, "Building upon the advice from Joe Dales, we succeeded in running our first competition with a major Japanese publisher which has since led to new opportunities with other publishers. We are very fortunate to have these resources available to us as entrepreneurs and as a new company in London."

Gaming Union is now set to attend Tokyo Game Show 2009. DIG London 2009 is also on the horizon, a London, Ontario event that Gaming Union is heavily involved in. This emphasizes how far Gaming Union has come as Kyle initially covered the event in 2008 as a student reporter, and now Gaming Union is an official partner of DIG London for 2009.

Gaming Union currently has 8 employees, and will soon be looking to add a full-time news editor and audio engineer. Currently working primarily out of their home offices in London, Ontario, Gaming Union also has staff in the US and UK. They will be looking for an office in downtown London within the next 12 months while Darryl manages the European operations from the UK.

Gaming Union continues to develop new ways to engage with its audience and are looking to continue to drive more traffic to their online video game news and reviews publication at www.gamingunion.net.
