Harnessing the Power of Partnerships

DirectDial.com/THINQ Technologies is one of North America’s largest online superstores representing over 300 Tier 1 manufacturers and 400,000+ business products. Founded in 1997 and based in London, Ontario, they deliver best-in-class IT solutions for the Canadian small-medium business (SMB) market.

With over 1 billion in online available commercial inventory and 26 distribution centres from coast-to-coast, the company has grown through both organic innovation as early adopters of e-commerce, and partnerships to become a vendor of choice for business customers. More than selling technology products, DirectDial’s real strength is delivering complete business-building solutions, including security and firewall management, managed services, networking and cloud solutions such as Microsoft Office 365 and Azure.

Company Collaboration

Since joining the DirectDial team of fewer than 50 employees three years ago, James Smith has spearheaded a new and exciting transformation within the company, directly connecting with local businesses and engaging with them to provide value and build unique, strategic partnerships.

“There was an opportunity for DirectDial to get more involved within the local business community, whether technology companies or not,” says James Smith, Local Business Development and IT Services Manager. “With our marketing capabilities and national reach, we can bring a lot of value to local companies looking to acquire IT products and services, or perhaps looking to enter new markets on a national scale.”

DirectDial recently became a member of the London Chamber of Commerce for access to networking and business-to-business opportunities, while staff like Smith joined committees within the Chamer and other groups to connect with businesses looking for solutions DirectDial can offer. The company has also attended numerous events during the past several months, such as LEDC’s Techsposure, where new synergies are made and potential partnerships formed. At Techsposure, Smith pitched DirectDial to a crowd of almost 200 local business and technology representatives, giving the company more local exposure. It’s opportunities such as these that have helped the company get more involved locally and spread the word about how their solutions can solve business needs.

“Our partners have allowed DirectDial to diversify their products and services while bringing competitive price and value to the market,” adds Smith. “DirectDial can be a driver in the local community. The advantage to being located in London is that our tech sector is excelling and it’s a great place to test and showcase a business, while working nationally from London.”

The company started out selling everything IT, including servers, computers and hardware. Through strategic partnerships, DirectDial has diversified their product and service offerings to include more solutions for things like digital signage, point of sale (POS), cell phones, and printer management.

Looking ahead, the company will continue building up their profile and partnerships locally, while uncovering new areas to diversify in. On a national scale, DirectDial will continue reaching new markets in health care, mobility, financial and cloud services, and digital retail, all while proudly calling London, Ontario home.
