Huge Recruitment Fair Offers Promise of Jobs for London Area Workers.

April 25, 2006: In the next seven days, Sykes Canada is hoping to find the employee of its dreams in London! In fact, the call centre company, which has been a part of this community since 1955, is hoping to attract at least 350 first-rate customer service professionals! Sykes Canada representatives will spend five consecutive days, beginning this Thursday, to interview hundreds of people for 350-400 new jobs. The new workers will use their customer service skills to handle inbound calls on behalf of a Sykes customer - a large international player in the financial services industry. Sykes has booked space in London’s Station Park Inn, which is right beside the company’s offices on Pall Mall Street, and they are promising on-the-spot interviews to those who meet the qualifications. In some cases, job offers may be made in just a matter of hours or a few days. “This is prime time for attracting new employees,” said Denis Thibodeau, Vice President of Call Center Operations. “We have new college and university graduates hitting the streets and we can offer them a great way to kickstart a career.” But these new jobs are not just for those at the beginning of careers, according to the Thibodeau, who also got his start by manning the phones. “Some of our best employees are mature individuals who are looking for the flexible full-time shifts we offer, the security of benefits, and a job where the focus is on customer service rather than sales. These are good quality jobs for the right people.” Applicants, who will be expected to work rotating shifts, must have basic computers skills, strong listening and speaking skills, a courteous attitude and a willingness to learn. Training is provided. Sykes Canada has invested over $1.5 million in technology and infrastructure in their Pall Mall Street offices to support the client requirements. In addition to meeting the growing needs of the financial services clients, Sykes is home to an Ontario Telehealth call centre, and its customer service professionals provide roadside assistance to stranded motorists on behalf of many automotive companies across North America.
