The mouse is coming to London.
On the heels of immersive art shows celebrating van Gogh and Monet, 100 Kellogg Lane is bringing a Disney show to the city in the same style.
The event will feature a video montage of Disney films and music projected on floors and walls — surrounding viewers, said Marth Leach, a partner in the entertainment centre.
“It is magical. It is uplifting. It is nice to go to a show that is inspiring,” said Leach, who saw the show in Toronto and Detroit and knew she wanted to bring it here.
London’s response to the van Gogh and Monet shows reinforced that, with about 65,000 visits to the shows from the end of October to April.
“The movie shows current characters and classics, a montage that is put together, but tells a story,” she said.
The show was created by Lighthouse Immersive in collaboration with Walt Disney Animation Studios. It opened in Toronto in December and it is also being screened in 11 U.S. cities.
“Immersive Disney Animation has proven so popular with audiences that we are opening a second Canadian venue,” Corey Ross, producer and founder, Lighthouse Immersive Studios, said in a release.
The show will include pieces from Encanto, Zootopia, Frozen, The Lion King, Peter Pan and Pinocchio.
“It has been quite a nostalgic rush seeing those films come to life in our venues across North America,” Ross said.
Tickets go on sale Thursday and the show begins June 3.
100 Kellogg Lane is also kicking off its spring market and moving ahead with plans to bring a Hard Rock Hotel to its site in 2024. The London Children’s Museum recently received building permits for interior construction to begin. It is also scheduled to open in 2024, Leach said.
