KONGSBERG opens new production facility in London, Ontario

(London, Ontario, 02 November 2011) Kongsberg is pleased to announce the opening of their new production facility in London, Ontario – Kongsberg Protech Systems, Canada.

Kongsberg Protech Systems (KPS) is the world's leading supplier of Remote Weapon Stations providing flexible solutions that meet our customer's specific requirements.

The official Grand Opening of KPS Canada will take place November 4th, and will include official guests from Canadian Government. In addition, representatives from both the Canadian Embassy in Norway, as well as the Norwegian Embassy in Canada will attend the event.

The 30.000 square foot production facility currently employs 16 people, and will produce advanced Remote Weapon Stations for the Canadian Forces, as well as for the world markets. It will also include a repair and overhaul line and support production at other KPS facilities. Production support for KPS?US is currently underway for the Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station (CROWS), which is a US Army Program of Record.

KPS Canada is in a strong position to support the Canadian Forces with a variety of solutions within the PROTECTOR Remote Weapons Station Family that will meet the needs of various land and naval programs. Canada currently operates the PROTECTOR M151 Remote Weapon Stations on their RG­31 Armoured Protected Vehicles in Afghanistan.
