Kongsberg Protech Systems Canada (KPSC) recognized

Technology-intensive manufacturing, the kind involved in the defence industry, is a key to London’s economic future.  The city’s growing defence cluster employs more than 12,000 highly skilled workers at over 45 defence related companies.

London is the home of Kongsberg Protech Systems Canada (KPSC) —a major player in the city’s defence sector. KPSC is part of Norway’s Kongsberg Gruppen :  a global technology leader in marine, oil and gas, space and aerospace/defence. The company employs more than 7,000 people in 25 countries.

KPSC opened its doors in London, Ont. in 2011 and has since been committed towards securing contracts to strengthen its operations in the Forest City.

“We’re very happy with the response we have received in London from the government as well as from the London Economic Development Corporation,” said Jørn Buø, president, KPSC. “We strongly believe this venture is a move in the right direction for Kongsberg.”

KPSC has been welcoming new employees with backgrounds in Quality Management, Warehouse, and Electro-Mechanical Assembly.  It is estimated 23 people will be employed at the company’s Huron Street facility by the end of the first quarter in 2014.

“In London, we have access to highly trained people with strong expertise in the defence sector,” Buø said.

Recently, Kongsberg was named the recipient of the Featured Company Award presented by the London Economic Development Corporation and the City of London for April 2014.
