London ON – (June 6, 2006) Labatt Breweries of Canada was announced today as the next recipient of the Featured Company Award presented by the London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) and the City of London.
Plant Manager Brad Hagan and Sales Manager Paul Walker will receive a commemorative plaque from Mayor Anne Marie DeCicco at the city council meeting on June 12.
One of Canada’s longest established and most successful brewing companies, Labatt recently invested more than $40 million for the expansion of the company’s London brewery. The expansion included the installation of eight 60 foot-high Uni-tanks (combination fermenting and ageing tanks) that will help increase brewery production capacity to more than 1 billion bottles of beer annually.
Founded in London in 1847 by John Kinder Labatt, the company’s first brewery produced close to one thousand bottles of beer a year. Today, Labatt is Canada’s largest brewer employing more than 3,000 people across Canada and producing more than 3 billion bottles of beer each year.
