London, ON (June 26, 2012) The London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) held its 2012 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday, June 26th, at the London Convention Centre. Numerous local stakeholders joined LEDC President and C.E.O. Peter White and Marty Thrasher, Chair of the LEDC Board, in highlighting 2011 economic development activities and discussing future plans for prosperity in the city.
Highlights from Thrasher and White’s presentation included the report that 2011 was the greatest year for investment with over $380 million brought into London through investment attraction and business expansion and the creation of over 1400 jobs. New investments include Dr. Oetker, Arvin Sango and Samsung. Both Thrasher’s and White’s presentations are available online at www.ledc.com
Following in the tradition of the LEDC’s award winning “Tomorrow in London” video, the AGM also featured the ‘soft launch’ of a new video designed to showcase London to the global market. In 2011, the LEDC released the “Tomorrow in London, Canada” viral video, featuring local world-leading companies whose innovations put London on the global map. The video won the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Marketing Excellence in Ontario, as well as two Gold Marketing Awards, presented by the Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO).
“Today + Tonight in London Canada” video tells a compelling story of London’s industry, their global outreach , and the quality of life available to those who make a living in London.
A marketing campaign supporting the video will be launched through social media, email and direct mail, and spread through a broad global network of international stakeholders, embassy and consulate workers, site selectors, and consultants working in economic development. A final version of the video will be published on the LEDC website (www.ledc.com) and shared at: Youtube.com.
