LONDON, Ontario – After serving as President & CEO of the London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC), since 2007, Peter White announced today that he is leaving his position and taking on a new challenge as the Executive Director, Government Relations and Strategic Partnerships for Western University, effective August 19th.
“Peter has provided outstanding leadership and vision to economic development in London,” said LEDC Board Chair, Gerald Slemko. “He has worked tirelessly through some very challenging times. The LEDC team is proud of all Peter has been able to accomplish and looks forward to the continued contribution he will make to our community in his new role at Western.”
At Western, Peter will have a crucial role in identifying new partnership opportunities in line with Western’s strategic goals and objectives. He will also assume the lead in coordinating multi-stakeholder projects.
“Western is a major economic pillar for London,” said Peter White. “It is important to continue to build on strategic partnerships that play an increasingly important role in advancing research and responding to real-world issues at a local, national and international level.”
Peter has built a very strong team at the LEDC and has implemented a long term comprehensive strategy to continue to build on London’s strengths. Under Peter’s leadership, the LEDC has been recognized four times as one of the top economic development organizations in Canada.
Kapil Lakhotia has been named Interim General Manager reporting to the Board while the search for a new President and CEO is conducted. Kapil has led LEDC’s investment attraction portfolio for over 10 years. His efforts have resulted in significant new investments and jobs in London.
