Site Selection Magazine has honoured the London Economic Development Corporation as one of the top performing economic development agencies in Canada, recognizing their fresh and invigorating approach. In addition, the city of London has been ranked as one of the top 10 metropolitan areas for economic development in the country.
Measuring projects and investments from June 2010 – May 2011, the awards are based on consistency in corporate project attraction, job creation, collaboration, proactive programming, quality data resources, and web tools. Data for London showed 886 new jobs created and facilitating more than $163 million in corporate investment through both new investments and company expansions.
“London has continued to attract new investment and support the growth of existing companies,” says Peter White, President and CEO of the LEDC. “Continued investment and growth in our community are the products of planning, hard work, and partnerships within the city and our region.”
The awards will be given out October 2nd at the Economic Developer’s Association of Canada’s annual conference.
