The LEDC selected as one of Top 10 Local Development Groups in North America

The London Economic Development Corporation is proud to announce it has been chosen by Site Selection magazine as one of the Top 10 Local Development Groups in North America in 2002.

“London, Ontario’s inclusion in this recognition demonstrates that business expansion activity is robust in locations on both sides of the border and that Canadian development agencies are just as competitive as their U.S. counterparts,” says Mark Arend, Editor, Site Selection magazine.

“We are honoured to receive this award which recognizes the accomplishments of the team at LEDC,” said John Kime, President and CEO of the London Economic Development Corporation. “But this award also belongs to our partners in the community who work closely with us to positively influence the growth of our economy.”

Local economic development groups that submitted a nomination were first ranked according to four objectives categories: new jobs, new jobs per 10,000 residents, new investment value and new investment per 10,000 residents. Then they were scrutinized for more subjective attributes – including innovation, leadership and customer service.

“This international award provides London with a great opportunity to showcase the key role of the LEDC in our city’s overall business strategy,” says Mayor Anne Marie DeCicco. “As we witness the many economic developments currently taking place in our great community, we recognize the successful partnership between the LEDC and the City of London as a key factor in bringing thousands of new jobs to The Forest City.”

Site Selection magazine, published by Conway Data Inc., delivers expansion planning information to 45,000 executives of fast-growing firms.

Conway Data is an international publishing and association management company headquartered in Atlanta. The firm manages the Industrial Asset Management Council, the Development Hall of Fame and the World Development Federation (WDF).

The entire Top 10 Groups article appears in the May, 2003 edition of Site Selection magazine and at www.sitenet.com.
