London Economic Development Corporation Takes Top Honours in Provincial Ceremony
London, ON (February, 2012) The Ontario Economic Development Awards took place Thursday February 2nd at the Ontario Investment and Trade Centre. The London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) took top honours in Marketing and Workforce Development.
The LEDC "Tomorrow in London" video ranked number one in provincial Marketing Using Multimedia category. The video was designed to demonstrate the global reach of innovations and products made in London.
The LEDC also gained recognition in the Workforce Development category for "The London Middlesex Immigrant Employment Council (LMIEC)," a collaborative initiative formed to address the importance of integrating international talent to keep pace with an aging workforce.
Expert judges reviewed entries from across the province that covered everything from promotional brochures to infrastructure development projects. The judges were from specialized areas of expertise assigned to evaluate specific categories.
Peter White, LEDC President, was in attendance to accept the awards during the Annual Conference of the Economic Developers Council of Ontario. "The LEDC team is honoured to be recognized for the quality of our work," stated White. "It's great to be acknowledged by our peers. Ceremonies like this one demonstrate the effectiveness of London's economic development efforts."
EDCO is the country's largest provincial economic development association that offers this program and professional development opportunities throughout the year. EDCO membership is comprised of representatives from both the private and public sectors.
