London (ON, Feb. 7th, 2013) - The Economic Developers Council of Ontario Inc. (EDCO) honoured the LEDC at their annual President’s Dinner and EDCO Award Ceremony where the LEDC received several marketing awards including the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Marketing Excellence – the highest honour within the economic development industry.
Winning across two categories, the LEDC was acknowledged for their “HIRE ONE” and “today and tonight in London Canada” campaigns. Launched in the fall of 2012, HIRE ONE supports local employers grow their business as well as showcasing and celebrating their growth. The HIRE ONE initiative was awarded top advertising campaign for 2012. “Today + Tonight in London, Canada,” a video produced by the LEDC to showcase London’s quality of life and innovation in foreign markets, was acknowledged as the best use of marketing utilizing multi-media.
In addition to these awards, the LEDC was awarded with the top honour of the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Marketing Excellence.
“It’s wonderful to receive this kind of recognition from industry peers”, says Kadie Ward, Director of Marketing and Communications for the LEDC. “The LEDC team works to promote our region as a means of attracting investment, and this type of recognition is motivating and reminds us to continue to work towards excellence in achieving our goal.”

EDCO is the country’s largest provincial economic development association that offers this program as well as other professional development opportunities throughout the year. Each year EDCO recognizes achievements in municipal economic development marketing.
