Local Entrepreneur Set to Disrupt Industry Price Increases

Chocolatier Marc Forrat to challenge chocolate industry pricing practice through the grand re-opening of his Dundas Street Studio

LONDON, ON (Nov 2, 2023) -  Veteran chocolatier Marc Forrat and his team are on a mission to make premium chocolate affordable, starting with the grand re-opening of the Forrats Chocolate Studio and School located at 2190 Dundas Street on Friday November 10th. Having had enough of the increasing cost of chocolate being charged to consumers, Forrat has shifted his focus to the production of high-end chocolates on a scale that passes the savings onto the consumer without compromising the artisan quality that Forrats has always represented for the last 20 years.

“For many years I have worked with only the finest quality chocolate in the world so I know what the cost of chocolate is and to me, there is no reason the cost has to keep going up for the customer other than to follow inflation,” says Forrat. “To me, chocolate prices have been manipulated to increase profits largely without considering the affordability of the customer thereby making chocolate an elite luxury only, when chocolate should be affordable for all.”

Today, with the help of Fedev, the Western Fair District, and the City of London, Forrats has opened a new manufacturing facility inside The Grove allowing Marc and his team to streamline the production process and tackle the disproportionate industry prices being charged.

“As a young child in Brazil waiting for the city bus to go to school, I was always looking in the window of the high-end chocolaterie at chocolates that we could never afford to buy,” recalls Forrat. “It was during that time I decided I wanted to become a chocolatier and make it my mission to one day build a company that would produce high-end chocolate that was affordable for the masses. After 20 years in the making, my team and I are finally able to do this on a larger scale.”

Armed with state of the art machinery and a brand new production facility, Forrat is prepared to disrupt the unnecessary rising cost of chocolate across the industry. With Forrat’s production facilities, packaged treats right off the line will be available for purchase at the refreshed retail store located on Dundas Street. Consumers can expect more affordable prices when buying high-end artisan chocolates than what the industry is practicing.
