London, ON: DAVWIRE, a defence and aviation manufacturing company, has entered into an agreement to acquire the Manufacturing Division of Rutter Inc., of St. John’s, Newfoundland. The agreement would see DAVWIRE transition the work from St. John’s to London, Ontario over a period of months beginning October 2014. As a result, the London-based firm will be growing its market and expertise.
“I’m very happy that Rutter has agreed to sell this piece of their business to us. They were very careful to select a company that would continue to deliver to their customers the service and detail that they have over the last 20+ years,” said Mark MacKenzie, President and CEO, DAVWIRE. “We feel it’s the right time for DAVWIRE to grow in this market, to align with the Government of Canada’s new Defence Procurement Strategy and be in a position to support the pending Defence programs that are coming into play. As well, the commercial Aviation market is continuing to forecast growth in its market promising opportunities for those companies with the capacity and capabilities.”
DAVWIRE has begun expanding its internal facilities to accommodate the additional work and will be sourcing for about 10 – 12 new positions initially, as a result of the acquisition. The effort being put forward by London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) and through working with Heather Pilot to create a strong defence industry sector in London was a factor in the decision to continue to grow the business in Southern Ontario.
DAVWIRE (Defense & Aviation Wiring Inc.) has been providing the aerospace and defence industry with electrical wiring harnesses and panels since its inception in 2003. With a commitment to a high level of service and attention to details, the DAVWIRE family of satisfied customers continues to grow.
