What’s better than jet-setting off to a sunny destination? Flying there for free.

London International Airport is helping two passengers do just that this winter, launching a giveaway with Flair Airlines to cover round-trip flights to one of the warm locales the low-cost carrier flies to direct from London.

The name of the winner may be shared on the airport’s social media channels.

Flair is launching direct flights to Cancun starting Dec. 20 and is kicking off its non-stop service to Orlando, Fla. Jan. 22.

Passengers who are too busy to jet off to a sunny vacation spot this winter can choose to use the round-trip flights on one of the Canadian cities Flair flies to in the summer months, said airport chief executive Scott McFadzean. Last summer, the airline offered direct flights from London to Vancouver, Calgary, Halifax and Winnipeg.

The contest is open to Canadian residents who are 18 and older. The travel must be completed by Nov. 30, 2024.

The value of the prize is $1,200 and there are no travel blackout dates, the contest rules say.

People can enter the contest at the London International Airport’s website.

Flair is a relative newcomer to the London airport, launching its first flights from the east London airport last year.

Passenger traffic at the London International Airport is up about 60 per cent from last year, McFadzean said Wednesday. The airport is on track to see about 350,000 passengers in 2023, he said.
