Last month, London joined in a world-wide celebration to recognize entrepreneurs during the Global Entrepreneurship Week, which took place November 18 - November 24.
Local London resources such as the London Economic Development Corporation, TechAlliance, Small Business Centre and BizInc —an incubator mandated to seek-out, support and promote student entrepreneurs at Western University and Fanshawe College —offer plenty of support for aspiring and upcoming entrepreneurs.
Celebration of London’s entrepreneurs was in full swing last month with the second Young Entrepreneur Night organized by BizInc with Globe and Mail's Report on Small Business along with Ivey Business School taking place during GEW on November 20. The evening saw aspiring student-entrepreneurs connect with small and medium business owners, exchanging ideas and building relationships.
"It's necessary to provide a nurturing environment for London's bright, young business-minded citizens and the Young Entrepreneur Night did just that," Lakhotia says. "Engagement from local small and medium businesses demonstrated that London welcomes entrepreneurs."
To help entrepreneurs make meaningful connections in the community and get advice on various business-related issues, Startup London, the London chapter of Startup Canada, joined forces with Hacker Studios to host Mentor London November 18-November 24. A robust list of day-long mentors gathered to provide valuable, hands-on learning via one-on-one sessions with experts on everything from bookkeeping and legal advice to human resource matters and marketing.
