Company Considering London as Potential Contact Centre Location; New Site Would Create 900 Customer Care and Technical Support Jobs
Canton, Mass. - Nov. 20, 2001 - Stream International, a global leader of integrated Customer Relationship Management (CRM) support services for leading technology companies and e-businesses, will hold Informational Job Fairs for potential employees in London, Ontario, Dec. 3-6, 2001.
The Informational Job Fairs Dec. 3 - 4 will be held at Fanshawe College, and will be open to students of Fanshawe and other university students only. The Informational Job Fairs Dec. 5 - 6 will be held at the Convention Centre and will be open to the general public.
Stream is considering opening a facility in London that would provide customer service and technical support, both over the telephone and Internet. If opened in London, it is expected that Stream's contact centre would open in the first half of 2002 and create approximately 900 jobs. London is a leading candidate for a Stream contact centre due to the high-quality labour market in the area, the state-of-the-art data and telecommunications infrastructure and the proximity to local colleges and universities.
Stream provides customer care for many of the world's leading technology and e-commerce companies, including software publishers, Internet service providers and other Internet-based businesses, and manufacturers of PCs and related equipment, such as printers, scanners, modems, digital cameras, and handheld personal assistants. Stream contact centres are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to take calls from people who need information on or help using these technologies.
Contact centres at Stream are run as stand-alone business units, requiring a management infrastructure that includes a site director, service delivery managers, team managers and team leads, in addition to the hundreds of positions for customer service and technical support agents. Each contact centre also employs professionals in the fields of human resources, information technology, finance, telecommunications, and facilities. The opening of a Stream contact centre brings not only a great number of jobs, but also a wide variety of positions to the area.
Training at Stream is done under the umbrella of Stream University, a comprehensive approach to training. Stream University provides employees with the knowledge necessary to answer questions accurately, and with the skills required to support each customer over the phone or Internet. Career planning is also an integral part of Stream University, working with employees to establish career goals and providing the training to help them reach those goals.
"Because they are the most critical component in satisfying our customers, our employees are our most treasured assets. We invest in our people, offering world-class training and a variety of career paths so that both Stream and its employees share in the return on that investment," said R. Scott Murray, president and chief operating officer at Stream International. "We're holding this Informational Job Fair to give the people of London a chance to come and get to know us, and see the training, benefits, and career opportunities we provide."
"Having met with officials from Stream, I know they are very interested in London and I am impressed with their innovative approach to measuring London's interest in this industry," said Mayor Anne Marie DeCicco. "This is our chance to demonstrate our keen interest in having Stream's business in our city. I encourage fellow Londoners to visit the upcoming Informational Job Fair to gain more information about this dynamic company."
"I am delighted with the potential opportunity to bring new jobs to the London community," said John Kime, president and CEO of the London Economic Development Corporation. "We have been working with Stream International to provide information and assistance in their analysis of the London market. This is a critical step for Stream as the company looks to quantify the size of the available workforce by meeting London residents first hand."
Stream's Informational Job Fair will be held: Dec. 5-6, 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the London Convention Centre on 300 York Street in London, Ont.
Several Stream employment representatives will be available at the Informational Job Fair to answer your questions and collect your resume. If you are unable to attend the events, but are interested in learning more about Stream, please visit www.stream.com.
