London - One of Canada's Top Places to Live

Even amid global economic challenges, London is considered one of the best places in Canada to live. MoneySense Magazine released its 2009 ‘Best Places to Live’ rankings and London is now ranked 11th out of 154 communities across Canada, up from 14th position in 2008.

In order to determine the rankings, MoneySense rates communities on 24 different factors, ranging from job prospects and home prices to weather forecasts and crime rates. London is often considered one of Canada’s most vibrant cities due to factors such as its diversified economy, and access to health care, education and research. Yet, our region has recently suffered significant manufacturing job losses and plant closures, which makes this new ranking even more important.

“This is tremendous news for our city, as we deal with a tough economic climate,” says Mayor Anne Marie DeCicco-Best. “With limited resources, people must be extremely vigilant in how they manage their finances and plan their lives and careers. As such, this encouraging data about The Forest City will help people to continue to view London as a well-rounded community, ideal for raising families and investing in enterprise.”

MoneySense Magazine’s rankings focus on those factors most likely to affect residents’ long-term happiness, such as your chances of landing a good job, affording a nice home, and having access to high-quality medical care. The full report is available online http://bit.ly/AkNQd.
