London welcomes AMO Conference delegates from across Ontario

The City of London is poised to welcome more than 1,500 delegates to the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Annual General Meeting and Conference between August 20 to 23, 2023 at RBC Place London.

Municipal leaders from across the province will be arriving for three days of policy and program workshops as well as study tours throughout London. The conference is an important opportunity to showcase sector-leading initiatives and strategies, including London’s first-of-its-kind Health and Homelessness Whole of Community System Response.

“On behalf of the City of London, welcome to Canada’s City of Music,” says Mayor Josh Morgan. “Our community, like many others in Ontario, is working to find innovative solutions to unprecedented challenges. London is leading new approaches that many communities across the province are watching closely. We look forward to sharing and learning together over the coming days.”

The AMO conference provides Ontario cities and communities the opportunity to share key learnings and best practices together. Just last month, London City Council reached a milestone in addressing the health and homelessness crisis in the community with the endorsement of London’s Hubs Implementation Plan, a critical and transformational component of the Whole of Community System Response. This work will be the subject of a plenary discussion at the conference involving Mayor Josh Morgan.

During the conference, guests will also learn about London’s UNESCO City of Music designation, the Dundas Place flexible street, innovative developments such as 100 Kellogg Lane and West 5, and how London is managing its biggest year of construction and infrastructure projects ever.

Attendees will also hear remarks from provincial leaders and discuss some of the most pressing municipal issues.

AMO is a non-profit, non-partisan association that represents more than 400 municipal governments from across Ontario. AMO makes municipal governments stronger and more effective in meeting common challenges. The conference was last hosted by London virtually in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic, and will be returning to London again in the summer of 2027.
