Nearly 200 local manufacturers attended “For Manufacturers Only” (FMO) March 7th, 2012 to discuss the impact global market are having on London’s manufacturing industry.
Organized by the London Regional Manufacturing Council, FMO aims to stimulate conversation and peer-to-peer leaning among London’s manufacturers while providing insight on global market trends affecting the industry. “London offers expertise in advanced manufacturing, composite materials, and food processing,” notes Peter White, President and CEO of the London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC). “London companies have built global reputations and FMO provides access to information and experts that they can leverage to grow their business.”
Opening keynote by the Business Development Bank of Canada’s Todd Evans presented an overview of global trade trends and discussed new ways to approach global trade. Concurrent breakout sessions on global markets, HR issues, financing, SMART, and workforce development engaged conference delegates through smaller working groups and panel discussions.“A key priority for FMO is to provide information and insight our manufacturers can apply as early as tomorrow,” explains Steve Glickman, Director of Business Growth and Retention with the LEDC. “Our program addresses ‘issues that keep manufactures awake at night’ so they can confidently plan for future success.”
