(London, ON) – BOS Innovations Inc., a manufacturing automation and design company, has chosen London to build a new 18,000 sq ft facility.
Within five years, the company expects to expand the facility with an additional 14,000 sq ft. During this time, it is anticipated that staff will increase by four people per year.
Currently based in Dorchester, BOS Innovations custom designs and builds automated assembly equipment primarily for the automotive sector. In addition, the company, which began operations in 1991, provides mechanical and process engineering services, general machining, tool and die work, plant equipment and systems installation and general welding and fabricating.
The company currently has 12 full-time employees and clients that include Siemens VDO Automotive, Intier Automotive, Cami Automotive, and Harring Doors. Currently the company is working on a project for a new manufacturer that has high aspirations for future growth.
Initially operating on a part-time basis, BOS Innovations became a full time business in October 1997 and by 2000 had more than doubled in size from a 2,500 sq ft shop to an 8,000 sq ft. shop.
“This is the ideal time to take the next step to increase our visibility and capacity as the demand for custom automated equipment (state of the art assembly equipment) continues to grow,” says company President and Owner, Casey Huigenbos.
“LEDC played a big part in my decision to move to the Forest City. I had been watching the Forest City Industrial subdivision develop and was very impressed with the speed of development and the caliber of manufacturers that are located there. I made one reply to an e-mail and the appropriate LEDC people were calling. Within days we were viewing property. The knowledge and professionalism of Heather Pilot, Director of Business Development at LEDC and Diane Coffin, Industrial Land Officer for the City of London encouraged us to take the next step.”
“We are thrilled to have BOS Innovations join the growing and vibrant manufacturing sector in London. It is an innovative, state of the art company that will benefit many of our existing companies and boost the attractiveness of our city to potential investors in the automotive sector,” says John Kime, President and CEO, London Economic Development Corporation.
Construction of the new facility, which will be located on 1.5 acres of land in Forest City Industrial Business Park, is slated to begin in spring 2005.
