Frank McKenna is tired of watching wealth evaporate north of the border.
The former Canadian ambassador to the United States and premier of New Brunswick brought an overwhelmingly optimistic outlook for Canada’s economy to the London Chamber of Commerce when he addressed about 300 people over lunch at the Four Points Sheraton Wednesday (Oct. 23).
But the deputy chair of TD Bank Financial Group had criticism for the snail’s pace at which new natural resource export capacity is coming online in this country.
Singling out liquid natural gas, he said there are 15 or so projects on the go in the United States compared to six in Canada and the countries are in a race to capitalize on growing demand overseas driven by development in Third World countries. [more...]
