This Friday, June 10th, heralds the FIRST in a series of extraordinary community events planned for the SECOND Friday of every month – June through September - in Old East Village. The June ONLY IN OEV FRIDAY happenings include live music, a Bike Rodeo, culture venue tours, active art creations, large mural painting, fabulous food options and imaginative shopping possibilities. Musicians will be filling the street with tunes while artists and artisans will be capturing visitor’s imaginations.
Old East Village BIA General Manager, Jen Pastorius is thrilled with the enthusiastic response from business owners, music and culture venue organizers and area residents. She says, “We wanted to showcase our new look – after two years of street renovations and upgrades – and we wanted to do it with a bang. Everyone jumped at the chance to pull out the stops and make this a great party – a great event and next month we’ll do it again, right into September. There’s something for everyone to enjoy, to get involved in and this Friday Old East Village is opening doors and welcoming guests. It’s something we do very well.”
A full list of events and times for ONLY IN OEV FRIDAYS are listed on the OEV BIA website
Pastorius also wants visitors to know Dundas Street will remain open to traffic during ONLY IN OEV FRIDAYS so those attending the event or those on their afternoon commute will have a perfect view of what’s happening along the corridor. She adds, “There’s plenty of parking in the adjacent municipal lots – two FREE hours with the Honk app - or along Dundas Street and of course cyclists can ride right up to their favourite restaurant or venue using the East-West Bikeway.”
Events begin at 3 pm and continue into the evening hours.
