Surge Acquires Sparks Assets

London, Ontario, August 19, 2005) - Surge Communications, a London based full service advertising agency, has acquired the identity and intellectual property of Sparks Event Marketing, an event management company located in the Kitchener/Waterloo area. Sparks will become a division of Surge Communications Inc. Through this acquisition, Surge has secured the Sparks name, selected assets and client files, and is making arrangements to retain several key staff. Surge will be making every effort to ensure that there are no interruptions in service to Sparks current client programs, making this transition as seamless as possible. Hans Jonckheere, Surge President & CEO, comments, “I see this venture as a win-win. Sparks key management have found a home here at Surge, existing Sparks’ client assets have been protected and we will be providing them with direct access to the resources of a full service advertising agency.” Jonckheere adds, “It will also assist Surge in gaining entry into the desirable K-W market, which has been a focus for us for some time. And, for existing Surge clients, we will be able to offer them a complete range of event management services, from local on-site presentations to international conference planning.” Brian Hillis, Account Director at Sparks Event Marketing, agrees. “Although there were other options, we felt that the chemistry was right with Surge. It’s a great fit,” says Brian. “Surge can offer our clients more stability and additional creative resources.” The new Sparks will maintain a location in the Kitchener/Waterloo area, where it is the intention of Surge to continue to use local suppliers and resources to support the programs executed by Sparks Event Marketing.
