A tentative agreement has been reached between the Canadian Auto Workers union and General Motors covering CAW members in the wake of the sale of GM’s locomotive operations in London, Ontario.
General Motors has sold the London plant to Greenbriar Investments, which will run the company as ElectroMotive Canada. The CAW had earlier reached an agreement with ElectroMotive Canada regarding the ongoing operation of the facility.
CAW Local 27 members who work at the locomotive plant will vote on the tentative agreements Sunday, June 5 at the Marconi Club, 120 Clarkside Road in London. The ratification meeting gets underway at 9 a.m. Media interviews will be available at the conclusion of the meeting.
CAW Local 27 represents 700 workers at the London plant, which produces rail locomotive engines.
