After recently moving to a new office in London, Ontario, SaaS-based technology company Trackunit has been striving to make an impact in its local community. Trackunit has engaged in several endeavours to give back to its local London community, including hosting an online auction and facilitating food bank fundraisers.
In February, Trackunit’s London-based employees worked together to raise over $12,000 in an online auction that gave used computer equipment a new home. The raised funds were divided between three local London organizations: 519 Pursuit, Big Brothers Big Sisters of London, and the Salvation Army, London Centre of Hope.
- Salvation Army at the London Centre of Hope provides housing, food shelters, and social services including withdrawal management, recovery community center, emergency shelter, and housing stability bank.
- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Londonhelps to assist young people who face adversity. The organization provides young people who need an additional, consistent, and supportive developmental relationship. The goal is to improve social/emotional competence, mental health/wellbeing, and educational engagement/employee readiness.
- 519 Pursuit is an inclusive community where those facing extreme poverty can hit the reset button in order to re-energize, overcome their unique challenges, and reach their full potential.
During a three-week internal campaign in December, Trackunit collected large boxes of non-perishable food and raised over $6,000 for the London Food Bank. With the cost-of-living skyrocketing, things have never been harder for those facing food and housing insecurity. According to the London Food Bank “the challenges have been immense, and since COVID has receded, the economic challenges seem daunting.” Some 21,000 people a month have been visiting the London Food Bank in recent months. That’s why Trackunit channelled its holiday spirit into giving back to its local community in London.
Through an ongoing series of efforts Trackunit attempts to rejuvenate its local London community and make a long-term impact on important community struggles regarding housing, essential resources, and sustainability. Trackunit engages in sustainability efforts as part of its core values to eliminate downtime in Canada and all across the world.
