On Monday, April 16th, Transform Automotive Canada Ltd. will be receiving London's Featured Company Award in recognition of their growth, innovation, leadership in the automotive industry and commitment to the community.
In December 2003, Sterling Heights, Michigan-based TransForm Automotive announced it would invest $15 million USD to construct its first Canadian automotive manufacturing plan on 10.6 acres in the Forest City Industrial Park. TransForm Automotive, a Tier I and Tier II automotive parts supplier is recognized for its Advanced Metal-Forming capability.
TransForm was producing transmission components within ten months of the initial announcement. “This could not have been accomplished without the tremendous support that we received from the City of London and the LEDC,” said Denis Hartman, Operations Manager. “They have responded with urgency to our business needs and have proven invaluable in the success of our launch.”
TransForm is realizing other benefits of being located in London. Mr. Hartman indicates “we are advancing our long term competitiveness in metal forming technologies through technical advancements including a two year Research and Development agreement with the University of Western Ontario through the Ontario Centre of Excellence.” Consideration is currently being given to renew this agreement for an additional three years.
“With the support of a 100 strong employee base and the ongoing support from the City of London, we look forward to continuing our growth as a member of the London manufacturing community.”
