London, ON. -- Two of Canada’s leading directors will headline the Forest City Film Festival’s fourth season, screening their most recent work as the London-based arts and cultural event continues to grow.
The Festival will announce details of its upcoming season Thurs. Sept. 12 at a media event.
Filmmakers and industry experts with a national profile will be attending the festival October 23-27 at four venues in downtown London for the festival's fourth season. This year's events will see a 35 per cent increase in films shown over last season, 65 compared to 48 in 2018, said Festival executive director Dorothy Downs.
“We are very excited to attract renowned filmmakers who will be screening their best work yet, and key members of the national film industry who will help drive our regional film industry forward. We are really excited to share the details,” said Downs.
Details of the new season will be announced at a media event:
- Thursday, Sept. 12.
- 11 a.m.
- Good Foundation Theatre, Fanshawe College downtown campus, 137 Dundas St.
- Networking party, Joe Kools, 4:30 -6:30 p.m.
The Festival has announced it will open with Prey, a powerful award-winning documentary that debuted and won at Hot Docs in Toronto, about London lawyer Rob Talach’s ongoing fight to compensate victims of sexual abuse by Roman Catholic priests.
It will also for the first time feature a Youth Film Festival, where the best of the films submitted last year by London-area high school students will be screened and a top film will be awarded more than $4,000 in prizes.
The Festival showcases features, documentaries, shorts and animation, all with a connection to Southwestern Ontario.
